Description
Often mistaken for its neighbor, London Bridge, Tower Bridge is the ornate, twin-towered masterpiece that has become a symbol of the city. Built in the late 1800s to allow ships to pass while maintaining road traffic, its "bascules" still rise today to let tall vessels through the heart of London.
Inside, the Tower Bridge Experience allows you to explore the high-level walkways and look straight down through glass floor panels at the traffic and river 42 meters below. You can also descend into the Engine Rooms to see the original steam engines that once powered the bridge’s massive lifts.
Highlights
- The Glass Walkways for a thrilling bird’s-eye view of the Thames.
- The Victorian Engine Rooms featuring beautifully maintained machinery.
- Watching the bridge "open" for passing ships (check the schedule in advance).
